Marine Science Center

Loaded with ecological wonders, the Marine Science Center is a treasure chest of sea and sky. Located just around the corner from the lighthouse and museum, this unique Volusia County-run facility offers a wide range of aquariums and exhibits filled with fascinating animals that introduce visitors to the beauty and wonder of marine life along the Florida coast. Through these exhibits, visitors gain a deeper understanding of Volusia County’s diverse ecosystems and learn practical ways they can help conserve natural resources for future generations. In addition, the Center houses two hospitals that rehabilitate hundreds of sick or injured sea turtles, gopher tortoises, and birds each year.

The Turtle Terrace offers a view of sick and injured sea turtles undergoing treatment. The outdoor habitats are home to injured hawks, eagles, owls, and water birds that can’t be released back into the wild.

The Center’s hospital staff is always on call for rescues. Turtle Terrace offers visitors a chance to see the turtle rehabilitation facility and the sick and injured sea turtles undergoing treatment. Outdoor habitats are home to injured hawks, eagles, owls, and water birds that can’t be released into the wild. Visitors will find it’s an unforgettable experience and affordably priced for the entire family.
