The Ponce De Leon Inlet Lighthouse Preservation Association, Inc. is 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the ongoing restoration, preservation, and dissemination of the maritime and social history of the Ponce De Leon (formerly Mosquito) Inlet Light Station andthe 19th-century Pacetti Hotel.
Founded in 1972 by a group of Ponce Inlet residents who shared a common goal of saving the venerable lighthouse from an uncertain future, the Ponce De Leon Inlet Lighthouse Preservation Association has worked diligently over the past 50 years to restore the light station to its former glory and transform the site into the nation’s premier lighthouse museums. The organization’s day-to-day activities are managed by a staff of 20-30 employees who operate under the governance of an all-volunteer Board of Trustees.
Funding for all nearly all ongoing restoration, preservation, maintenance, and educational projects completed by the Association is generated almost entirely in-house through daily admission and merchandise sales, annual membership dues, and private donations. Although grant funding may be sought when appropriate, the Association does not currently receive any public financial support at the local, state, or national level.
