Aside from the Pacetti Hotel itself, one of the oldest structures on the property is the water tower building. Located directly to the north of the main building, this structure no longer contains a tank, but one of its original functions was to provide water for the hotel’s needs. Large wooden beams in the ceiling of this building reinforced the roof to support the weight of a large storage tank. There is also a cistern located underneath to store additional water.
Pipes connected this building with the other cisterns on the property to form a single water storage system. This system was fed by gutters that collected rainwater as well as by multiple wells around the property.
Photographic evidence suggests that it was constructed in the late 1930s during Olivia Gamble’s restoration of the hotel. This building also once housed a small bathroom plus a workshop and storage space. It was restored and converted into a restroom building in 2023-2024, though the cement-board siding and wooden shingles and beams remain.
