Enjoy Fall Activities and Things to Do in Volusia County

Ghouls and goblins are afoot, tasty pumpkin-flavored treats are in season, and a full moon is fast approaching – autumn is here! From enjoying oncoming milder temperatures to the growing excitement surrounding all things fall, Volusia County is the perfect place to find plenty of opportunities for festive, seasonal fun. Many events are doing their part to keep participants feeling safe by exploring ways to hold events with COVID-19 guidelines in mind – while still staying in the spirit of the season. Read on for just a few ideas of the many upcoming autumnal things to do in Florida!

Have Fun Shopping Local

Being in the middle of fall means looking forward to the upcoming holiday season. For many, this might mean starting holiday shopping. Whatever your reasons, shopping local is always a good option – and you’ll have the perfect opportunity in Ormond Beach at the Frame of Mind annual Shop Small Saturday Outdoor Market. On November 24th from 9 am – 4 pm, the framing and art gallery’s back garden will host 40 artists and creative vendors – and plenty of opportunities for unique gift shopping for the holidays!

Get in the Spooky Spirit

Looking for a way to enjoy some Halloween fun this year while staying safe and socially distant? Thankfully, plenty of local events are offering options for some spooky fun while keeping safety guidelines in mind. For example, you might want to pay a visit to the Ponce Inlet Drive-Thru Spooktacular. Bring your costume and your mask (and your other mask) to Town Hall on October 31st from 6 pm – 8 pm to enjoy candy, crafts, and more.

Another option is to visit the One Daytona outdoor shopping center for their Fall for One Daytona event. On October 31st from 4 pm – 7 pm, there will be special offers throughout the property, candy for trick-or-treaters (following safety guidelines), and, if you’re feeling great about your Halloween look, a virtual costume contest to enter.

If you’re angling for a good scare, you’ll want to drop in on the Port Orange Halloween Extravaganza for the 8th Annual Halloween Yard Walkthrough, featuring plenty of spooky props, animatronics, and dressed-up characters. Face coverings are required to enter – so mask up before your visit! The event is located at 832 Pine Forest Trail West Port Orange, FL – across from Spruce Creek Elementary School in the County Side Subdivision – and runs from 6 pm to 9 pm during October 28th – 29th, then 6 – 10pm from October 30th – 31st.

Climb to the Moon at Ponce Inlet Lighthouse

Fall is the perfect time to admire a beautiful full moon – and what better place to do it than from the stunning vantage point atop the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse? While our Halloween event may be sold out, fear not – there’s an opportunity to join us each month for a taste of Florida history with the rising of the full moon. Guests on November 30th can join us for a sparkling beverage and tasty hors d' oeuvres, as well as a delightful journey to the past with information about the lighthouse’s history. Get your tickets quick ($30 for members; $35 for non-members) or plan ahead for a future event – we limit events to 30 participants. We hope to see you there!
