The Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse Preservation Association is pleased to announce the recent acquisition of the historic Pacetti Hotel located on South Peninsula Drive directly across from the lighthouse. The Association's Board of Trustees views the purchase of this property as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to save one of Volusia County's most endangered historic places and significantly enhance the museum's ability to interpret the Ponce de Leon Inlet Light Station in more meaningful detail.
The building was originally built by Pons Park pioneers Bartola and Martha Pacetti in the 1880s using funds generated from the sale of ten acres of land to the US Government for the construction of a new light station at Mosquito (now Ponce de Leon) Inlet. Commonly referred to as the Pacetti House, Pacetti Hotel, or Pacetti Boarding House, the history of this late-19th century structure, the land it sits on, and the family that built and operated it, is closely linked to that of the lighthouse, the keepers that maintained it, and the families who once called the light station home.
