The Historic Pacetti Hotel and Florida Cracker Architecture
Friday March 11th – 1PM
at Cracker Creek
1795 Taylor Road
Port Orange, FL
Presented by:
Registrar and Assistant Curator Felipe De Paula, Ponce De Leon Inlet Lighthouse and Museum
Registrar and Assistant Curator Felipe De Paula of the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse & Museum will discuss the history and architecture of one of Volusia County’s oldest buildings: the Pacetti Hotel. Constructed in the 1880s, the Pacetti Hotel is a perfect example of the Florida Cracker style of architecture, featuring raised floors, local materials, large windows, and a shaded front porch. Come learn how Florida’s turn-of-the-century pioneers dealt with the rugged Florida outdoors in a time before centralized air conditioning became the norm.
This event is presented free of charge, brought to you by the Programs Department at Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and the Ponce De Leon Lighthouse Preservation Association.
