DESCRIPTION:Tuesday at the Tower: Spirit of the Greatest Generation\n\n\n\nAugust 6th                            Tuesday at the Tower – Spirit of the Greatest Generation              11:00am \nVisit the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and catch the spirit of ’45! Established by Congress in 2010\, Spirit of ’45 Day coincides with August 14th\, 1945; the pivotal date in our nation’s history when President Truman officially declared that World War II had come to an end and when the United States’ assumed the mantle of leadership in rebuilding the post-war world. Special family-oriented activities have been scheduled for museum guests between the hours of 10:30am and 2:30pm including a presentation highlighting the Greatest Generation on the Homefront at 1:00pm. \n*Registration is required\, as there will be limited space for attendees. \nTo register\, please contact the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse Programs Department at education@ponceinlet.org or by phone at 386-761-1821 ext 18.

DESCRIPTION:This month’s Volunteer Meeting will be held on Tuesday\, 8/13/24 beginning at 11 AM in the Education Building. \nThis meeting will also be open for new volunteer applicants: Do you have a passion for history that you would like to share with young and old alike? Are you looking for an opportunity to socialize with others and contribute to a worthy cause? Does the opportunity to learn new things and instill a love of history and culture in others excite you? If you answered yes to any of these questions\, then the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse and Museum is the place for you! We’re looking for new volunteers to help the museum meet it’s growing educational programming needs. Current lighthouse volunteer opportunities include: \n\nMuseum Tour Guide\nTower Monitor\nLiving History Interpreter\nCostuming Assistant\nSeamstress/Tailor\nWorkshop Facilitator\nEvents Assistant/Coordinator\nEducational Outreach Facilitator\n\nPrevious docent or teaching experience is not required and complete training is provided to all volunteers. In appreciation for their valuable contribution to the museum\, volunteers are provided with a free annual membership\, scheduled luncheons\, off-site field trips\, and an annual volunteer award dinner. \nIf you’re interested in volunteering\, just show up!
