SUMMARY:Tuesday at the Tower: It’s a Ship Show - Florida’s Maritime Canvas
DESCRIPTION:Presented by James “Zach” ZachariasSenior Curator of Education and Curator of HistoryMuseum of Arts and Sciences\, Daytona Beach \n\nDiscover Florida’s rich nautical heritage through the lens of fine art. \nJoin us for a captivating Tuesday at the Tower presentation featuring “It’s a Ship Show: Florida’s Maritime Canvas”—a special program exploring the state’s deep maritime history as portrayed by generations of American painters. \nFlorida’s rich maritime heritage has long inspired artists to capture its nautical spirit on canvas. With the longest coastline in the contiguous United States—stretching over 1\,380 miles—the state’s shores have served as both subject and backdrop for generations of maritime painters. \nThis exhibition explores the unique legacy of ship portraiture in Florida\, a distinctive chapter within the broader tradition of American maritime art. Drawn from the renowned Cici and Hyatt Brown Collection at the Museum of Arts and Sciences\, these works chart the evolution and cultural significance of maritime painting in the Sunshine State. \nFrom dramatic seascapes to detailed ship renderings\, these paintings evoke the adventure\, romance\, and mystery of the sea. Journey through Florida’s nautical past and discover a lesser-known strand of American art history\, as seen through the eyes of some of the nation’s greatest landscape painters. \nPresentation is included with regular admission.  \n*Registration is required\, as there will be limited space for attendees. \nTo register\, please contact the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse Programs Department at education@ponceinlet.org or by phone at 386-761-1821 ext 18
