Resources for teachers

School children of the 1800s

Welcome to the Ponce de Leon Inlet Lighthouse education page. Here you will find extensive resources for teachers and students interested in learning about Ponce Inlet's National Historic Landmark. The Ponce de Leon Inlet Light Station offers a unique educational experience for school groups, home schools and organizations.

Educational lighthouse tours are available for grades 2-12 and are based on the Sunshine State Standards of Learning in science, social studies and language arts. These fun and instructive tours include information and activities based on the science of lighthouses, state and local history, family life at the 1887 Light Station, and an exciting climb up the second tallest lighthouse in the United States!

Students from all Volusia County accredited institutions and home schools are admitted without charge. Non-Volusia County school groups are admitted at the standard group discount rates. To reserve a school tour, please call 386 761-1821 or email Programs Manager Bob Callister.
